The stag bellow season: a fascinating natural spectacle
Every year, from mid-September to early October, the forests of our regions resound with the powerful bellowing of the stag. This period, known as the "bellowing season", corresponds to the mating season for these majestic cervids. The call of the males is a way for them to mark their territory and attract females. It's a unique sound spectacle that attracts many nature lovers. Over the years, the bellowing of the stag has become a well-known and much-anticipated phenomenon: observers and enthusiasts alike come together to listen to this intense, vibrant moment, a reflection of wild nature. La Roche-Champlon Youth Hostel invites you to a unique evening!
The Youth Hostel welcomes you on Saturday 28 September from 6.30pm for the first edition of its "Brame Du Cerf" evening.
On the programme:
- 3-course meal: Enjoy a refined dinner consisting of three dishes specially prepared for the occasion. (Vegan option available on request)
- Discover the stag, its habits and its habitat: An information session with an expert from theASBL rêve de terre will enable you to learn more about the stag, its behaviour during the mating season and its environment (in French only).
- Listening to the bellowing of the stag: After lunch, you'll be invited to the edge of the forest to listen to the bellowing of the stag, the powerful cry that echoes in the woods during the mating season.

- 25 per person for the evening, including menu and activities.
- 50 per person if you wish to extend the experience with an overnight stay at the Youth Hostel*.
