It announces the opening of its brand new hostel " BX Downtown Hostel " and its restaurant " Half & Half " in the heart of Brussels' most vibrant district.

About us

Welcome to the BX Downtown Hostel, a place with an exceptional location in the heart of the Capital, a real link between two mythical districts: Sainte-Catherine and Dansaert.

A space open to all, nestled in the hustle and bustle of Brussels, where the city's cosmopolitan energy is fully expressed. An inquisitive and festive neighborhood, where artists, entrepreneurs, globetrotters and food lovers meet.

Half & Half, our restaurant-bar, will be a versatile space inspired by Belgian authenticity. An alternative, nimble and inclusive place, embodying the country's joyful and spontaneous spirit, with a generous and convivial menu.

We'll be opening this summer, and we're looking for an inspiring leader to write the story with us.

Our challenge to you:

As Director of BX Downtown Hostel and its Half & Half restaurant, you'll be at the heart of this adventure. You'll be involved in the opening and launch of the project, overseeing its strategic and operational implementation.

Your role will then be to ensure optimal management of both activities, to keep our customers satisfied and to instill a positive dynamic in your team.

Key figures :

  • 222 beds / 23 family rooms for 1 to 4 people and 136 capsule beds in comfortable shared rooms
  • 80 to 120 covers depending on the season
  • A full team of up to 25 employees

You will join the Youth Hostel network, benefiting from the support of our support departments (General Management, Finance, F&B, Revenue Management, Infrastructure, Human Resources, Promotion and Communication) to help you structure and optimize the management of the establishments.

Your main tasks:

  • Strategy & operational management: Operational supervision of the smooth running of thehostel and restaurant as the opening approaches. Define and deploy strategies to ensure clear positioning and a unique guest experience.
  • Team management: recruit, train and supervise a motivated team, including reception, kitchen, dining room and maintenance staff, in collaboration with the HR department, using a human and hands-on management approach.
  • Administrative & financial management: budget monitoring, profitability and cost optimization
  • Customer experience: ensuring organizational flexibility and service quality
  • Development and innovation: instilling a positive, rich and diverse culture. Contribute to the development of activities and events, collaborate with local partners and ensure that our offerings are in tune with our visitors' expectations.

Your profile

We're looking for a dynamic, committed person with a passion for alternative hospitality. Someone who knows how to combine rigor and creativity, who enjoys working in a constantly evolving environment, and who understands the importance of creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere.

  • Proven track record with 5 to 10 years' experience in catering and hotel management. A degree in hotel management is a plus.
  • Solid managerial skills with the ability to federate a team
  • Excellent organizational skills, project management and rigorous budget monitoring
  • Sense of customer service and ability to create a contemporary, warm and welcoming atmosphere
  • Autonomy and proactivity in managing day-to-day challenges
  • Fluency in French and English (knowledge of Dutch and other languages a definite plus)
