Founded in 2015, BelRefugees is a Brussels-based citizen platform dedicated to welcoming and supporting people undergoing migration. Its commitment is not limited to one-off help: it intervenes at every stage of their integration. 🏡📚
👉 360° support: Welcome, information, training, administrative assistance... BelRefugees guides and orients people in migration so they can integrate while respecting their individuality and life choices.
👉 Advocating a more inclusive society: The association campaigns for a migration policy that complies with international conventions, and advocates a more open and supportive society.
For several years now, our youth hostels have been actively involved in BelRefugees initiatives. Here are just a few of our solidarity initiatives:
✅ A second life for our equipment 🛏️ When we renew our equipment (mattresses, chairs, etc.), we call on BelRefugees volunteers. These donations make it possible to offer a little comfort to people in need, while reducing our ecological footprint. 🌍♻️
✅ International Day of Peace 2023: a solidarity collection 🎁 In September 2023, we launched a major collection of clothing, hygiene products and small materials in collaboration with Youth Hostels in Flanders. The result? A van full of donations headed for the BelRefugees warehouses to be redistributed to people in need. A wonderful action shared with Michel, a volunteer who has been involved for several years. 🙌
